History and Strategy

WorldSage was founded in 2006 by veteran, successful education professionals and entrepreneurs. John Grillos helped to build one of the World's largest online learning companies, one of the first online learning universities and several educational technology companies. Dr. Barbara Kurshan is the Executive Director of Curriki, a prestigious education non-profit organization focused on providing open source curricula globally. Dr. Kurshan has also been the CEO of a successful education consulting company and has helped found several successful companies in the education space.

WorldSage has developed relationships with over 50 leading private universities in Europe. WorldSage is implementing a multipart strategy consisting of acquiring professional degree programs in the US for distribution through its European partner schools and acquiring equity interests in European higher education institutions interested in becoming part of the WorldSage system.

WorldSage was founded to achieve three goals in the European higher education market.

• To provide access to capital from US investors who have shown a high level of interest in higher education. Our view is to obtain capital from the US public market which has shown a steady interest in investing in school systems at relatively high prices even in the face of the massive market meltdown experienced in late 2008.
• To offer through European partner schools, in blended learning format, English language degree programs provided by US schools with good reputations.
• To achieve the benefits of scale through the merger of institutions without sacrificing the operating autonomy of the constituent schools.
